Privacy Policy

Game Changers News is published by Creative Bohemian, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you read the site, subscribe to our newsletter, contribute financially, or contact us — and what you can do about it.
We have written this to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, email us and we will explain it in plain language.
The short version
- You can read this site without telling us anything. No account, no login.
- We count visits with Google Analytics, with Google’s advertising features switched off. Details under Cookies and analytics below.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information. We never have and we do not intend to.
- We do not run advertising trackers or third-party advertising networks on this site.
- We collect an email address only when you hand us one — a newsletter signup, a contribution, or a message.
What we collect
When you just read
Our host records standard server information for every request: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, referring page, and timestamp. This is ordinary web-server logging, used to keep the site up, diagnose problems and detect abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you.
When you subscribe to the newsletter
Your email address, and the date and source of your signup. If you engage with our emails, our email provider records opens and clicks so we can tell whether the newsletter is worth sending. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe.
When you contribute financially
Contributions are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never touch our servers — we cannot see them. From Stripe we receive your name, email address, contribution amount and date, and the last four digits and brand of the card, so we can thank you, keep records and handle any dispute.
When you contact us or send a tip
Whatever you choose to put in the message — typically your name, email address and what you want to tell us. Messages sent to our tips address are treated as described under Confidential sources below.
What we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, we do not ask for your precise location, and we do not collect special-category information such as health, biometric or political data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people read the site, which stories they read, and how they found us. It sets two first-party cookies (_ga and _ga_ followed by our ID) that last up to two years. Google receives your IP address to estimate a rough location (country and city); Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.
We have switched off Google’s advertising features: no ad personalization, no remarketing, no Google Signals. We do not run any advertising tracker. Fonts are served from our own site rather than a third-party font network.
If you are in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics runs without cookies: Google receives a basic, cookieless visit count and nothing is stored on your device.

If we ever add a service that requires a cookie banner, we will add one and say so here first.
Video. Where we embed video, we use privacy-enhanced embedding so that the video provider does not receive your information until you press play. Once you press play, that provider’s own privacy policy applies to what happens next.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own marketing.

We will also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our safety or the safety of others — subject to the limits described immediately below.
Confidential sources
We are a news publication. If you contact us as a source and ask for confidentiality, we will treat your identity as confidential and will resist disclosing it, including in response to legal demands, to the fullest extent the law allows.
We cannot promise absolute protection — no publisher honestly can — and email is not a secure channel. If you have genuinely sensitive information, say so before you send details, and we will arrange a more secure way to talk.
How long we keep things
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record so we do not email you again by mistake.
- Contribution records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years.
- Correspondence: as long as it is useful to the story or the relationship, then deleted.
- Server logs: a short rolling window, typically no more than 30 days.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email us and we will do it. We will not charge you and we will not treat you differently for asking.
If you are in the EU or UK, you additionally have the rights granted by the GDPR and UK GDPR, including the right to object to processing, the right to restrict it, and the right to complain to your data protection authority. Our lawful bases are consent (newsletter), contract (contributions) and legitimate interests (keeping the site running and secure, and counting visits without cookies).
If you are in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know, delete, correct and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes requiring an opt-out.
If you are in Oregon, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have comparable rights to access, correct, delete and port your information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and profiling. We do not engage in targeted advertising or profiling, and our analytics setup has Google’s advertising features switched off.
We respond to Global Privacy Control and similar browser opt-out signals.
Security
We keep the site deliberately simple — there is no reader database and no reader login, which removes most of what could be stolen. Payment details never reach our servers. Access to the tools that do hold information is limited to named staff accounts with two-factor authentication.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, say so in the newsletter.
