Terms of Service

Game Changers News is published by Creative Bohemian, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company (“we,” “us,” “the publisher”). These terms apply when you use gamechangers.news (“the site”). If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

The short version

• The site is free to read. There is no paywall and no account required.
• Contributions are voluntary, are not a subscription to anything, and are not tax-deductible.
• Our journalism belongs to us. Read it, quote it fairly, link to it — don’t republish it wholesale.
• If you send us a tip or a letter, we may publish it. Say so if you don’t want that.

1. Using the site

You may read, link to and share Game Changers News freely. You agree not to:

• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its systems or its accounts;
• scrape, harvest or bulk-download content, including for the purpose of training machine-learning models, without our written permission;
• introduce malicious code, or interfere with the site’s operation or security;
• impersonate any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization;
• use the site for anything unlawful.

No account is required to read the site. Accounts exist only for our own staff and contributors, and are non-transferable; if you hold one, you are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for everything done under your login.

2. Contributions

Game Changers News is free for everyone and funded by readers who choose to chip in.

• A contribution is voluntary support for our journalism. It is not a subscription, it does not purchase access to anything, and it grants no membership, ownership, editorial influence or other benefit.
• Contributions are not tax-deductible. We are a for-profit publisher, not a registered charity or a 501(c)(3).
• Payments are processed by Stripe, subject to Stripe’s own terms. We never receive or store your card details.
• Recurring contributions continue until you cancel. You may cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds. If you contribute by mistake, or change your mind, email us within 30 days and we will refund it, no questions asked. Beyond 30 days we will consider requests case by case and will generally say yes.
• We may change or discontinue contribution options at any time. Any change applies going forward, never retroactively.

3. Our content

All content on this site — articles, headlines, photography, illustration, the Game Changers News name and wordmark — is owned by Creative Bohemian, LLC or its licensors and is protected by copyright and trademark law.

What you may do without asking: link to us; quote a reasonable excerpt with clear attribution and a link; share our work with colleagues; cite us in your own reporting or research.

What requires our written permission: republishing an article in full or substantially in full; using our content in a commercial product; reproducing our wordmark or branding; systematic or automated copying, including text and data mining for machine-learning training.

If you would like to reprint something, ask. We are usually happy to say yes.

4. What you send us

If you send us a tip, a letter, a correction, a comment or any other material (“your submission”):

• You keep ownership of it.
• You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, quote, edit for length and clarity, archive and distribute it in connection with Game Changers News, in any medium.
• You confirm it is yours to send, that it does not infringe anyone’s rights, and that it is not defamatory or unlawful.
• Unless you tell us otherwise, we may publish it and attribute it to you. If you want your submission kept off the record, or your name withheld, say so in the message — ideally before you send the substance.

We are not obliged to publish, respond to or return anything you send.

5. Corrections

We correct our mistakes. If you believe something we published is inaccurate, email us with the specifics and we will look into it promptly. Where we correct a published story, we note the correction on the story rather than quietly changing it.

6. Third-party links and embeds

We link to and embed material from other sites. Those links are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for third-party content, products or privacy practices. Once you leave our site, the other site’s terms govern.

7. Newsletter

Subscribing is optional and free. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe, which we honor promptly. We will not sell or rent your address. See our Privacy Policy.

8. No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to be accurate, but we do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components, or that any particular content is complete or current. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, investment or professional advice.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Creative Bohemian, LLC and its members, officers and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of your use of the site.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the greater of: (i) the total amount you contributed to Game Changers News in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (ii) one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Creative Bohemian, LLC from any claim arising out of your breach of these terms, your submissions, or your misuse of the site.

11. Governing law and venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above shows when they last changed. Material changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. General

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us regarding the site.
